2008 The Outlier
$18.00
Normally, Gewürztraminer and the word “refined” should never be used in the same sentence, but the fruit really takes precedence here: green apple and grapefruit keep the normally bombastic brown spice and florality well under control, and the overall effect is one that leads to comments such as “dry, flavorful, understated.” This is made from thirty-year-old head trained vines from Los Alamos, and they seem to be at their peak. The aromas will make you think the wine is sweet . . . . but it’s not!
Though low in alcohol (12.5%), this is a fuller bodied wine than you might expect, and it begs to be paired with Indian, Chinese, or Thai food – or consumed all by itself! Stainless steel fermented. Only 110 cases produced.
